RENEWABLE ENERGY TOUR · DENMARK

Denmark’s Energy Transition

Wind turbines, district heating and industrial symbiosis in five days. See how a whole country, and one island, changed the way it makes energy.

OVERVIEW

Energy as a story of cooperation

Denmark shows that the energy transition is as much about ownership and collaboration as technology.
Three places tell that story, and we discuss honestly what counts as truly renewable.

Copenhagen

An offshore wind farm co-owned by citizens, and a waste-to-energy plant that heats the city.

Kalundborg

Industrial symbiosis: companies sharing heat, water and residual streams.

Samsø

The renewable energy island, powered by wind, solar and community-owned heating.

DAY 1. Copenhagen and Middelgrunden

Arrival, then the Middelgrunden wind farm: 20 turbines just off the coast, half owned by a citizens’ cooperative.

DAY 2. Waste-to-energy and the green city

A guided visit to the Amager Bakke plant, the CopenHill rooftop, and a walk or bike ride through the sustainable city.

DAY 3. Kalundborg Symbiosis, ferry to Samsø

Train to Kalundborg, a briefing at the Symbiosis Center, then the ferry to Samsø and an overnight stay.

DAY 4. The renewable energy island

Samsø Energy Academy, the Ballen harbour demonstration, the community-owned heating plant and a cycling tour of the island.

DAY 5. Return via Aarhus

Ferry to Hou, onward to Aarhus and a flight home.

Let’s talk about travel and collaboration

Whether you have questions, need support, or want to explore opportunities—I’d be happy to discuss the details and explore opportunities to work together.
